Math Grading and Grades
Letter grades will be reflected in PowerSchool in this class and will follow the 10 point Wake County and Wakefield Middle School Grading scales. Grades each quarter will consist of three parts – classwork, quizzes, and projects/tests. Please refer to the student agenda for full details.
Homework:
Homework will be assigned daily in this class and will be reviewed for completeness as much as possible. Practice of classroom materials and skills is vital to student success. Students should be showing work in their workbook or on notebook paper. Math 1 students need to plan about 40 minutes for their homework for this High School credit course work. Math 8 students should plan for about 30 minutes for their homework.
Homework is not included in the quarter grade average. Completeness will be randomly checked and recorded in PowerSchool.
Classwork:
Classwork will be the most common grade students will receive, as it is anticipated that students will finish most of their work in class. These assignments will include warm-ups as well as handouts or activities. Weekly Problems will be assigned each Tuesday and due the following Tuesday and provide important additional practice of previous skills studied.
Classwork is 25% of the quarter grade.
