Organization for Math Class - or any class for that matter!:
Organizing Your 3-Ring Binder:
In all subject areas, students should keep one section of their 3 ring binder for each class. On the binder rings, students should have notebook paper for note taking, completion of daily class work/nightly homework and any loose sheet handouts. Papers should be headed with at minimum their name, a topic, and date to help keep them in order. It is usually helpful to file pages in reverse order with the most current work at the front of the binder section, so students can open their notes to the most recent items. File all pages on the rings.
Students should never throw any materials away, but remove materials from their binder after completing the test/performance assessment for each unit. Materials removed should be stored at home in a folder and kept until the end of the year for use during EOG/EOC review.
Within your binder have a notes or handouts section and an EOC Materials Section OR a 3 prong folder for the EOC review materials. Keep items in their proper place.
Organizing and Writing Out Written Work On Paper:
Reference the attached file for an example of how work should be shown within student work. Columns on your paper are acceptable to conserve paper when possible. Just be sure to be able to easily read the page - two columns can work nicley! Homework format File
